I really like the atmospheric perspective, the stronger contrasts between light are dark are very nice. :) Some of your other art feels 'low contrast' to me, with the busyness and lack of variation between large-scale elements, but this is very clear and has a real sense of 'depth' with the faded background and progressively bolder foreground :D

You've done it again!  Nice work.  Perhaps bird people could inhabit these structures.  Ever read 'Voyage of the Space Beagle' by A.E. van Vogt?

thank you <3 never read it, the description says all male crew in a spaceship, chemically castrated, probably gonna skip that book :D

On the other hand, in the '40s "chemically castrated" just meant "injected with estrogen" (see: Alan Turing) so if you think of the crew as "pre-op Male to Female Transgender" you might find it a bit more palatable to the 2017 mind.

yeah lots of social cirticism, new science fiction is often focussed on action sadly, thats what the trekkies are critcizing the new film adaptations for

For sure, Trek used to be all about the social commentary, but the new Trek is just explosions and lens-flare :(

lol even jj abrams wive told him to use less lense flare after the first movie :D
i like the movies though, fast pace action for the cinema, as long as the series stay the way they were meant to be. we'll see ...

As the story comes out of the 1940's, that description is close.  Never heard of the 'chemically castrated' bit.  The image of the bird people, (described as androgynous, a concept of sexuality unheard of in that era), was what I was thinking of.  Never the less, I still like your pic!

The chemically castrated part is a reference to the libido killing substances that is put in the food the crew eat.

Hmmm, interesting!  I will have to re-read that story.  Don't remember that!  I suppose it would be akin to what I've heard about the Navy, and/or prison.  One might think that with a Nexialist on board, that libido could have been dealt with psychoactively, rather that through drugs.  It's been a long time since I read the story.  I appreciate your responses!

You welcome. Since this is a fix-up novel, and I have only read that and not the original shorts, I don't know if it is included there as well or if it is only in the novel.
It is the part where they mentioned the food is made of sawdust or something, and some of the boys jokes about how they can't wait to see some girls again. It's been a while since I read it, so it is a little blurry. But that's when we learn that they are putting the drugs in all the food, chemically castrating the crew.

hehe i was just joking, that was the first sentence in the description on wiki. we have animals on earth actually that dont have males/females, there are crab like thingies with only females i think, or only males, or whatever you call it, for example. so not having a clear sex is natural depending on your species :)

That's interesting about wiki.  I assume you mean Wikipedia?  I'll have to check that out.  Yeah, androgyny seems like the way things could go in the not too distant future.  In the story I referenced, the bird people procreate by 'budding' an offspring that eventually drops off as a new individual, with psychic connections!

yeah can be tiring to read, audiobooks are awesome, there is a lot on youtube, also maybe you have good memories about someone who read to you when you were a child, my father used to do that, kinda remembers me of that always :)

It looks like wheeled vehicles would not be the best mode of transportation in this city. Legged vehicles that can cling to the irregular structures might work well?

thats completely wrong, slenderman hangs around in dark woods, not futuristic cities. besides, slenderman is fantasy, a myth, and not science fiction.
if someone is gets reminded of transformers if i upload a mech, i get that, but this?! your first comment on the forest like city made a kind of sense, but the others not :D
